The words hungry and teenagers go hand in hand, but if you're in Queenstown, you're in luck? There is absolutely no excuse for the standard teenager catch cry 'lm starving' as the food in aahhhhmazing and the choices are endless.
We got amongst it, and although l came home 5kg heavier (in a week OMG) it was all worth it. Here's our favs :
Prime Waterfront Restaurant - I'm going to start off by making a big call. This place literally has the best steak in Queenstown. You heard it here! Coming from a reformed vego, this is really saying something. The view from this restaurant was also nothing short of spectacular and the staff were super attentive. The prices were very reasonable and we all left very full and super happy.
Winnies Gourmet Pizza - If you're hungry and nothing is going to satisfy you more than an unbelievably delicious hot pizza, look no further. Now l can tell you l class myself as a bit of a pizza
connoisseur, we even have own back yard pizza oven. I know, l know, it wasn't exactly my choice, but hubby tell me that man must have fire and of course endless pizza.
So as l am sure you can imagine, we eat our fair share of pizza, but nothing like the pizza we had at Winnies, this was truely scrumptious. The vibe was super funky, with 80's tunes rocking the house and the icing on the cake was the roof that randomly opens to let in some fresh air (and a little snow if you're lucky).
Sombreros Mexican - After a full day of hardcore skiing. Well that's what l call it, other's say it was falling, whatever! We landed with grumbling stomachs at Sombreros. If you like Mexican food, and let's face it who doesn't, get to Sombreros now! Unbelievable. Delicious. We ordered nachos, quesadillas and enchiladas. Ok so we were hungry. While we didn't manage to eat it all, we certainly gave it a red hot crack! The decor was super quirky, l especially love upside down tin chickens on the ceiling, they are always a winner lol. The price was really affordable and the meal sizes, absolutely huge! I must also make special mention of the delightful staff, these guys know what hospitality means! When in Queenstown, you must definitely go to Sombreros. Just saying.
Fergburger - With it's online cult following, no trip to Queenstown is complete without a visit to Fergburger. That's what we heard, and heard, oh and heard. We lined up for 40 minutes, yep 40 minutes, and in the snow! All for a hamburger. Although my fingers were frozen by the time my burger was assembled, everything they say is true. The burgers are a little bit delish. In my expert burger eating experience, it's the sauces (and the group cult mentality lol), the teenagers say it's the sheer size and the meat patties. Whatever it is, l admit the burgers are frightfully good. Worth the wait? Ha ha depends if it's snowing. P.S. the queue never goes down, like ever. So just get in it and try striking up a convo with your neighbour, l think that's what Ferg is really about.
Devil Burger - Awesome burgers, on the other side of Queenstown from Ferg, 2 minute queue (yay, winning!!!), indoor seating away from the snow. All l'm saying is give them a go, l'm sure you won't be disappointed lol, we weren't.
Queenstown is a foodies heaven and we managed to eat from just about every establishment in town (hence the weight gain...). These are our favs, do you have any you'd like to add?
